Karen has more than 20 years’
experience helping clients succeed.

Karen provides communications planning, crisis and issues management and media relations counsel to many client organizations including The Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia, TransLink, BCIT, the National Police Federation and others.

She started Cook Public Relations in 2009, after serving as Executive Vice President at BC’s top public relations agency. Karen began her career at a Yaletown ad agency where clients included Molson Breweries, Club Med and Polo Ralph Lauren.

She helps leadership teams survive – and even thrive – in times of challenge, and develops communications initiatives to help organizations optimize their reputation, sell products and services, attract investors, and recruit employees.

An accredited public relations counselor, member, mentor and speaker at the Canadian Public Relations Society, Karen is also a member of the Public Relations Society of America’s Counselors Academy. She is an enthusiastic former Governor of Vancouver Community College and senior communications advisor to Squamish Helping Hands Society. Karen is also engaged in her community and can be found exploring new heights on her road bike, balancing precariously on her yoga mat or watching arthouse flicks as part of her ongoing quest for perfectly buttered popcorn.
